move southeast across the area this morning then high pressure will move east through the region tonight. another arctic front will cross the area saturday and stall sunday into monday as a wave of low pressure moves along the front from tennessee through virginia. && near term /through tonight/... as if it isn't cold enough already...another arctic front will move se across the area this morning. winds will increase to 20 to 25 mph while temps hold nearly steady in the mid teens...maybe even drop a few degrees from late morning on. wind chill readings will be around minus 10 at times today and drop even further tonight so will put up a wind chill advisory for the whole area thru 10 am fri. winds may gust around 40 mph at times. deeper moisture only affects the ne part of the area today so snow accumulation of more than a half an inch should mainly be confined to the snowbelt. models remain consistent enough to stay with about 2 to 4 inches of accumulation in the snowbelt with the higher amounts in the higher terrain of nw pa. winds will also produce blowing and drifting of the snow. && short term /friday through sunday night/... high pressure quickly builds in from the west tonight. the potential for accumulating snow showers should be ending by midnight then lingering flurries will gradually taper off the second half of the night. decreasing clouds and winds will allow temps to drop into a zero to minus 10 range from much of the cwa which could produce some new record lows. the high crossing the area fri morning quickly shifts off to the east so temps will try and moderate on fri but increasing high clouds will limit this rise. another arctic front is on track to cross the region saturday morning. moisture fields indicate that snow with this front will probably hold off until the second half of fri night or sat morning. there looks to be two periods of snow...the first with the cold front then maybe a brief break later sat into sat eve. the second batch of snow should occur as the upper flow and a developing wave of low pressure produces an overrunning set up sat night thru sun night. this round of snow has the potential to be more significant depending on the strength and track of the low. sat should be the warmest day as highs actually may rise a few degrees above freezing. more cold and well below temps are in store for sun and sun night and probably most of the month of march. && long term /monday through wednesday/... long term begins monday with snow likely occurring across the area. models close now on the storm track across west virginia monday morning to off the new england coast by evening. with the storm moving northeast out of the area so quickly will wrap up most of the the precip in the morning monday...hanging onto a few leftover snow showers for the afternoon mainly east. based on moisture believe all counties get some snow but storm track would suggest best accums along and east of a mnn-cle line. tuesday and wednesday models have high pressure building across the area. given a bit of open water will have slight chance pops for snow showers across the snowbelt that will be in the graphics. while temps will be well below normal it appears the real "arctic' portion of the airmass remains to our north through the long term with temps possibly recovering to the low and mid 30s by next thursday. && aviation /12z thursday through monday/... arctic front moving through the area early this morning with wsw flow across much of ohio and nwly flow across srn lwr mi. snow showers have developed over the lake with more snow showers moving in from the northwest behind the front...likely aided by lake michigan moisture. expect snow showers to expand the first half of the day and then dissipate/evaporate this afternoon as drier air moves in. concerned about flow off the lake however given at least some open water kcle west...will have snow showers east continuing through mid/late afternoon while ending them west. expect mvfr and occasionally ifr restrictions today. expect mostly vfr tonight and friday as drier air and high pressure move in. outlook...non-vfr developing most areas saturday. widespread non- vfr sunday into monday. && marine... gale warning remains in effect for today. clipper moves through the great lakes early today dragging an arctic cold front across the lake. winds behind the front will increase to 35 knots over the ice in the absence of friction. winds will drop back tonight as high pressure builds across the lake. expect generally light winds on the lake through friday. saturday looking for southwest flow to increase to 15 to 20 knots or so as another low moves across the lakes. high pressure will then build from the west onto the lakes sunday however a storm system will be moving northeast across the tennessee and lower ohio valleys that will turn winds northeast. && cle watches/warnings/advisories... oh...wind chill advisory until 10 am est
