h2. Brewing Beer

We brewed another "one gallon batch of beer,":http://jothut.com/cgi-bin/junco.pl/blogpost/38026/13May2014/2014-Onegallon-batch-home-beer-brewing using the Grapefruit beer recipe from the Brooklyn Brewshop beer book.


h2. NOMO

**At 5:35 p.m., a ++Northern Mockingbird++ foraged under our backyard feeders.**

The NOMO was a new bird for our yard, and the first NOMO that I have seen in the West Toledo area. 

I've seen local NOMOs in north Toledo, downtown Toledo on the Marina District land, near south Toledo, by the Rossford United Methodist Church, and possibly somewhere else.

Our May 4, 2014 backyard NOMO seemed to forage on whole kernel corn that I had scattered under the feeders a while earlier. The bird then flew into the bushes behind the oak tree, located at the southwest corner of our backyard.

We attended the 6:00 p.m. Sunday evening service at "University Church,":http://theuniversitychurchtoledo.org located along Hill Ave. 


h2. Evening Yard Bird Sightings

My notes from my Field Notes notebook of backyard bird sightings

* 7:47 p.m. - 5 WTSP on backyard.
* 7:49 p.m. - 7 WTSP on backyard.
* 7:55 p.m. - HETH foraged on the ground under the feeders. 
* 8:01 p.m. - HETH flew to the west spirea bushes.
* 8:18 p.m. - 2 CHSP foraged at the west side of the middle oval flower bed near 3 or 4 WTSP.
* 8:21 p.m. - HETH on back lawn.
* 8:30 p.m. - HETH flew off.
* 8:41 p.m. - the last WTSP remaining on the backyard flew off.
* 8:43 p.m. - HETH appeared under the feeders.
* 8:46 p.m. - **the NOMO returned and foraged under the feeders.**


h2. HETH - May 2-5

Updated info about the late-migrating Hermit Thrush that I first saw in our backyard on Fri, May 2, 2014. The area around the feeders to the east side of the middle oval bed to the garden area seemed to be the HETH's favorite feeding area for the past few days. My last sighting for this bird in our yard occurred on Mon, May 5, 2014, so it hung around for at least four days.
