...rip current risk in effect until 10 pm edt this evening...

the national weather service in cleveland has issued a rip
current risk...which is in effect until 10 pm edt this evening.

* location...lake erie shoreline from maumee bay to ripley new york.

* a rip current risk...moderate risk.

* surf height...waves building to 3 to 5 feet by tonight.

precautionary/preparedness actions...a moderate risk of rip
currents means that rip currents are possible and any one
entering the water could risk being swept out into open water in
strong currents. heed the advice of life guards and local
officials where present. consider staying out of the water when
waves are present to avoid being caught in a rip current.

through thursday morning...

rest of today...west winds 5 to 15 knots becoming north and
increasing to 10 to 20 knots. mostly cloudy with a chance of
showers. waves 1 to 3 feet building to 3 to 5 feet. there is a
moderate risk of rip currents today.

tonight...north winds 10 to 20 knots. mostly cloudy in the
evening...then becoming partly cloudy. waves 3 to 5 feet.

thursday...north winds 10 to 20 knots diminishing to 5 to 15 knots.
mostly sunny. waves 3 to 5 feet subsiding to 1 to 3 feet. 

thursday night...northwest winds 10 knots or less becoming
southwest. mostly clear. waves 2 feet or less. 
winds and waves higher in and near thunderstorms.

the water temperature off toledo is 73 degrees...off cleveland 69
degrees and off erie 73 degrees.
