Using Tor

h2. Download and install the Tor browser

* Visit https://www.torproject.org and click the download button.

* For Windows as of Aug 17, 2014, the download is a 26 mb .exe file that will consume 76.5 mb of hard drive space.

* At the Tor project website, read the "suggested browsing habits.":https://www.torproject.org/download/download-easy.html.en#warning

* Using your "normal" browser, visit http://ipaddress.com

* After installing Tor, visit http://ipaddress.com and note the differences in your IP address and your location.


h2. Disable JavaScript

* At the upper left side of the browser, click the blue 'S' with the red exclamation mark, which is located to the right of the Onion icon. 

* After clicking the 'S', click "Forbid Scripts Globally."

* Check to see if JavaScript is enabled or disabled by visiting http://www.enable-javascript.com/ and look beneath the different browser icons for either a green checkmark for enabled or a red X for disabled.


h2. Disable Cookies

* Select @Tools@ from the menu bar at the top of the browser.

* In the drop-down box, select @Options.@

* Click on the @Privacy@ icon.

* At the @History@ section, the default setting for @TorBrowser will:@ will probably be set to @Never remember history.@ Change this. Click the select-dropdown and change to @Use custom settings for history.@

* *Uncheck the box* for @Accept cookies from sites.@

* Click <code>Ok</code> to save changes.

* To test, if you have a Toledo Talk user account, try logging in. Your login should appear to work, but you will not be logged-in because no cookies were set. You should still see the @login@ link at the top of the site.
