h1. walking in the snow to dinner - Jan 8, 2015 On Thu eve, Jan 8, 2015, my wife and I walked to El Camino Real in West Toledo. It's about a 20-min walk with my stops to take photos. I love walking at night with the snow falling. With the single-digit temps, this was a sparkling snowfall. We arrived at the restaurant at 6:55 pm. By then about 1/2 inch of snowfall had accumulated since snow began around 6:00 p.m. During our walk, the snow intensity was at least moderate. It came down pretty good. It was a super fine-grain and lightweight snow. Windy. The wind speeds increased since sunset. The brisk winds easily caused blowing snow. The snow came down sideways. The winds blew from the southwest, so temps warmed a couple degrees since late this afternoon. Temp was 8 to 9 degrees at WTWS station between 6:30 and 7:00 pm. At 9:06 p.m., the WTWS reported 12 degrees. At 3:20 p.m., the WTWS reported 5 degrees. We left the restaurant at 8:26 p.m., and we arrived home at 8:46 p.m. Again, I stopped and took photos at multiple times on the walk home. Fun evening. hr. After sunset, the brisk southwest winds warmed our temps from 6 to 10 degrees. It snowed fairly hard for while after 6:00 p.m. At least an inch of new snow accumulated by 8:30 p.m. It was tough to tell, since the winds easily blew away the super fine-grain, lightweight snow. My wife and I walked to El Camino Real for dinner. Hey, how about that. A Mexican restaurant reference. It was about a 20-minute stroll each way. I like walking at night when the snow is falling, and somehow, I convinced her that she would like it too. I made the walk longer because I took photos and videos like I've never seen snow before. A lot of cool sights can be found at night when the weather is snowing and blowing. We cut across the Deveaux Elementary School parking lot. It will probably be the only time that the school gets used this week because of the hellacious weather. On the walk home, I trudged through drifts that were at least six inches deep. Destination. Margaritas and pork tacos with cilantro and onion. That's a handy thing about living in the city: short walks to tasty grub. The snow sparkles well in this weather.
