The Toledo area experienced freezing and sub-freezing temps the past two mornings. I tarped my produce garden on Friday evening. I set my alarm for 4:00 a.m. Shortly after 4:00 a.m. on Saturday, temps within the city and around the city ranged from 28 to 32 degrees, according to "Wundermap":http://wunderground.com/wundermap and the airports. One West Toledo personal weather station reported 30 degrees while another reported 29. Toledo Suburban Airport reported 29 degrees. I used a handheld digital thermometer to check the temp around our garden, and at 4:30 a.m., the temp ranged between 31 and 32 degrees. I removed the tarps and picked all remaining tomatoes and peppers. I assumed that it would get colder, but it didn't. Temps began to rise slowly around 5:00 a.m., reaching the mid 30s by 7:00 a.m. on Saturday. Based upon TOL data, I'm guessing that temps were at or slightly below freezing in our backyard for 1 to 2 hours. 5:21 a.m., Sat, Oct 17, 2015 Wundermap screenshot.
