But consumers prefer chains. To satisfy this demand, the chains should be permitted to do whatever they want. It's business. Uniqueness interferes with sameness. It's easier to shop at familiar stores that can be found nearly everywhere. To improve our conformity index, we need to eradicate more local character to attract more chains. That's a winnable campaign strategy for local politicians.
