the national weather service in cleveland has issued a winter
weather advisory for blowing snow...which is in effect until 10
pm est this evening. the winter storm warning has been cancelled.

  • accumulations...little additional accumulation but blowing and
    drifting snow will occur.
  • timing...blowing snow into this evening. dangerous wind chill
    readings into wednesday morning.
  • winds...west winds of 20 to 30 mph with gusts of 35 to 40 mph
    diminishing some by late this evening.
  • visibilities...visibilities under a half mile in blowing snow.
  • impacts...snow covered roads with blowing and drifting snow. it
    may take 10 minutes or less to get frostbite on exposed skin
    monday into wednesday morning.
  • temperatures...dropping below zero by late today then remaining
    near or below zero into wednesday. morning lows in the teens
    below zero tuesday morning.
  • wind chill readings...20 to as low as 40 degrees below zero at
    times through wednesday morning.

precautionary/preparedness actions...

a wind chill warning is issued when a strong wind will combine
with cold temperatures to create dangerously cold conditions for
exposed skin. the wind will make it feel like it is 25 degrees
below zero or colder for several hours. those planning to venture
outdoors should use common sense and dress warmly.
