...wind chill warning remains in effect until 9 am est
wednesday...

  • accumulations...no additional snow accumulation is expected
    however blowing and drifting of snow on the ground will continue
    today.
  • timing...through wednesday morning.
  • winds...southwest 20 to 25 mph with gusts to 35 mph diminishing
    some tonight into wednesday morning.
  • visibilities...visibilities under a mile possible in blowing
    snow.
  • impacts...it will take only a few minutes to get frostbite on
    exposed skin. blowing snow could quickly cover roads.
  • temperatures...gradually rising from the mid teens below zero
    this morning to around 10 above by late wednesday morning.
  • wind chill readings...extremely dangerous wind chill values from
    30 to 40 degrees below zero at times into tonight with gradual
    improvement late tonight through wednesday morning.

precautionary/preparedness actions...

a wind chill warning is issued when a strong wind will combine
with cold temperatures to create dangerously cold conditions for
exposed skin. the wind will make it feel like it is 25 degrees
below zero or colder for several hours. those planning to venture
outdoors should use common sense and dress warmly.

a winter weather advisory is normally issued for a variety of
winter weather conditions such as light snow...blowing snow...
sleet...freezing rain. stay tuned to noaa weather radio for
