2013 northwest Ohio spring bird migration update
The bird migration through northwest Ohio seems to be on schedule.
Excellent numbers and variety of songbirds migrated through northwest Ohio on Tuesday, May 14, 2013 through Saturday, May 18, 2013. Tuesday and Wednesday were the biggest days.
Female Kirtland's Warbler was seen on Magee Marsh east beach on Tuesday, May 14. It stayed overnight and was seen the next day.
Also, two male Kirtland's Warblers were seen on Wednesday, May 15, 2013. Three KIWA seen at Magee Marsh in one day is a new record for recorded or known data.
With more east quadrant winds on Thursday through Sunday, May 19, the activity declined a bit each day, but the birdwatching was still good with decent numbers and good variety.
The next wave or increase in bird activity may occur tonight and tomorrow, May 21, 2013.
