Chimney Swift show
Aug 29, 2013 post at the Toledo Naturalists message board about the evening aerial finale of the Chimney Swifts heading to bed for the night. It's a fascinating site to watch hundreds of swifts dive into a chimney at dusk.
At 8:30 this evening (8/28) close to 1,000 swifts spiraled down into a chimney on the Common Space building, located on the E side of Reynolds Rd a couple of short blocks N of Dorr St in Toledo. The swifts wheel about in a wide circle, 4-5 at a time dropping into the chimney until all are in. If you haven't seen this spectacle before, it's worth a look! Might continue for a few more days.
