June 18, 2014 - I finally entered the smart phone era

Over the past year, it was fascinating to use the old dumb/feature flip phone with the Opera Mini Browser for using and testing my web apps to ensure some progressive enhancement and general usefulness on lower-scaled phones. I wish that I could keep a feature phone around for testing. Maybe an inexpensive Trac-phone-like device could work.

The Opera Mini browser worked surprisingly well on the flip phone. That browser handles some or many aspects of jQuery and enough CSS to make the sites look good.

But this evening, CP took me to the Verizon store on Central Ave. We had great service. Nick took care of us well.

The 32-gig 5c was free for me. I added the Lifeproof nuud waterproof protected cover. So my total cost was around $140 for the cover and activation fee.

When we got home, CP and I tested the waterproof cover. No bubbles. Dry inside. Nice for me, especially for nature note-taking outdoors.
