Looney bin traffic congestion on Toledo area roadways

(My Aug 19, 2014 ToledoTalk.com comment)

From my experiences, I-75 south in the morning and in the late afternoon has been okay. I-75 north in the morning has been fine too.

But I-75 north in the late afternoon, fuhgeddaboudit.

The traffic congestion on I-75 north between northern Wood County and downtown Toledo is much worse in the late afternoon and evening.

It's so bad around here, that it's quite comical.

Last Friday evening when traveling north, I tried to go though downtown, but Miami Street by the grain elevators was under construction, and traffic in that area was jammed up. So I made my way to 795 and then I-280 north.

The stretch of I-280, located south of Oregon is under construction, down to one lane in each direction, but the traffic flowed decent enough.

On Monday evening, I tried the long way around by going I-75 south and then I-475/RT 23.

I-75 south has construction in the Perrysburg area, but it was not too slow-going.

I-475/RT 23 has construction beyond the Maumee area, but at least two lanes exist in both directions. But last night, traffic was stop-and-go in that area because of an accident, which forced us down to one lane.

I would say worming over to I-280 north is the best option at the moment.
