Good observation about critical geeks
There's absolutely valid criticism to be leveled at Ello and this touches on some of it, but it's hard to get past the tone. Why is so much design criticism online hostile? Sure, the Internet is full of assholes, but design criticism is actually integral to the design process not unlike peer review in the sciences. It should be better than a snarky Pitchfork review. This is pretty tame compared to a lot of what passes for design "critique" online, but it still falls into the trap of writing the work off from the first line and spending the next dozen or so paragraphs trying to get the reader to agree that, yes, this is terrible work. What does that accomplish?
This isn't even about Ello. We all complain about the "Dribbblisation" of design, but maybe there would be more of a market for real criticism online if more people gave enough of a damn to provide real criticism.
