My facebook note post with the new design

((On Sep 25, 2015, Facebook officially announced the redesign of their Notes feature. Back in 2009-2010, I created Notes for the Ohio Young Birders Club Facebook page as small blog posts. This new look for Notes makes the posts display nicer. This is a test post, trying out the new features. I’m using text and photos that I created in the fall of 2007.)

Rossford’s Island View Park (RIVP) is located on Dixie Highway (Rt. 65), barely south of Lime City Rd. The park sets along the Maumee River side of the road at the top of the hill near the edge of Rossford city limits on the way to Perrysburg. It's easy to overlook the entrance. A small, low-profile sign and a gravel parking lot are the clues.
The photo at the top of this page was taken while standing on the exercise trail at RIVP and looking at Eagle Point, which is also located in Rossford. At this location, Grassy Creek enters the Maumee River.
I lived in Rossford for nine years, and I racked up a good number of miles running on the park's winding trails.
I also spent a lot of time birdwatching at RIVP. It's a fine little place to observe a wide variety of migrating songbirds in the spring and fall. I still visit RIVP for birdwatching. Some interesting warblers that I have observed at RIVP include Brewster’s, Yellow-breasted Chat, Kentucky, Hooded, and Worm-eating. One spring, I found a pair of Red-breasted Nuthatches, nesting in big, old willow tree.
Here is some official information about the park:
Island View Park is a hidden treasure in the City of Rossford. The park sets on the Maumee River and is equipped with a 1.1 mile jogging / walking / exercise course. Evenly divided throughout the course are 16 exercise stations for individuals wanting a more challenging workout. The natural atmosphere of Island View Park allows you to enjoy your workout or just relax on a bench. The park is mostly woodlands except for one small, open grassy/brushy area.

In order to get the header image at the top of this post to display properly, the image gets “chopped” a little by the formatting code. That’s fairly typical behavior for blog or content management systems. Therefore, I’m displaying the header image again.
Even the Maumee River at times can become somewhat clear and slow-moving in order to create the mirrored effect on a clear-sky day.
