Wed, Apr 13, 2016 Blade story about yesterday's Toledo city clowncil actions:

In other business, Council voted to spend $12,242 from the general fund for membership into the 2016 U.S. Conference of Mayors.

The spending measures passed unanimously with the exception of the U.S. Conference of Mayors expenditure. Councilman Tom Waniewski voted against it.

Unfortunately, feebs will focus on the small membership fee and think, "No problem." But the problem is the act of squandering any amount of money, unless the expense can be rationally justified. But rational thought and city government don't mingle well.

The mayor and all of the clowncil members who support this membership should have each chipped in $1,000 of their own personal money. Then we would see how much clowncil likes the idea. It's easy to spend someone else's money.
