.day one...today and tonight.

there is a marginal risk for severe thunderstorms this afternoon
and evening. a band of scattered thunderstorms should develop
along a cold front and push east across northern ohio into
northwest pennsylvania through this evening. some storms will be
strong and an isolated one or two could produce marginally
damaging winds and large hail.

.days two through seven...monday through saturday.

no hazardous weather is expected at this time.

probability of watch issuance...5 percent

summary...storms may pose a risk for a few strong wind gusts and
marginally severe hail through 1530z over se lower mi including the
detroit metro area. ww is not anticipated.

discussion...early this morning a line of storms with a few embedded
bowing segments is moving at 30-35 kt into sern lower mi. these
storms are developing in association with a zone of deep ascent/dcva
accompanying a vorticity maximum rotating through base of the
synoptic trough. a 40 kt wind gust was recently reported at flint
mi. some destabilization of the downstream boundary layer will occur
during the next couple of hours which may further increase the
threat for a few strong wind gusts before storms move east of the
state.
