Tips for navigating Toledo's road construction

June 30, 2016

After crossing the Maumee River on I-75, move all the way over to the left when you can. No rush. Only one lane is available for the split to I-475 West.

At the split, follow the left lane as it curves left, which puts you onto I-475 West.

After the split, move all the way over to the right lane when you can. Also, no rush on this. You have a mile or so to go before you reach the Douglas Rd exit.

Exit I-475 W at Douglas Rd. At the end of the off-ramp, if the light is red, you cannot turn right on red.

Turn right onto Douglas Rd and move over into the left lane.

You will cross Berdan Ave, and then at the light for Sylvania ave, you will turn left. The rest of northbound Douglas Rd does not exist right now.

It's a little tricky to turn left from Douglas onto Sylvania because of the barriers and construction equipment. Do not turn in front of the equipment. Drive up to where northbound Douglas dead-ends and then turn left. You'll make a wide, slow turn.

Once on Sylvania Ave, go through the first traffic light that you encounter, which will be near Backdoor Barbecue and the DeVeaux Jr. High School.

At the next light, you will turn right or north onto Bowen Ave. The Orchard Inn bar is at this corner. Also, Kathy's Confections bakery and coffee shop is located at Sylvania and Bowen.

Got north on Sylvania a few blocks. You will cross three side streets. The fourth street will be our street, Castleton Ave.

Turn right or east, and our yellow house is the first one with a driveway.
