Tt post july 3, 2016 about the World War II Cater Air Raid Siren

"The howler monkeys to the west of me are getting started early this year, which kept me awake until 1:00 AM. I even like fireworks, but isn't there some kind of curfew for this crap in Lucas County?"

This is definitely my least favorite time of the year. If the bombers limited their destruction only to July 4, then fine. But the onslaught begins at least a week before, and it amps up a bit more each night. Last night was brutal. And it doesn't help that our dog is terrified of the explosions.

And at 9:20 a.m. today, we were under attack again.

My plan for July 4 has been to out-loud the slackjaws, but I lack the necessary item.

Do you know where I can buy a World War II Carter Air Raid siren?

About mid-afternoon on July 4 when the the carpet bombing is in full swing, I would crank up the siren in attack mode, and I would sit on a lawn chair in our front yard with a colander on my head.

What could anyone do? Call the cops. What could the police do to me? Write me up for disturbing the peace while illegal rockets of red glare burst all around us.

I would claim that I'm warning the intelligent neighbors to take cover because of the incoming.

Demonstration of the Carter air raid siren. The dude has a couple hand-cranked versions in his booth, but that smacks of effort.

The old Carter siren is small but mighty. They finally turn it on at the 1:30 mark.

This carpenter built is own air raid siren.
