...beach hazards statement in effect through saturday evening...

the national weather service in cleveland has issued a beach
hazards statement for rip currents, which is in effect through
saturday evening.

• hazards...waves of 3 to 6 feet will continue into saturday
  night. this will cause currents to develop along the lake shore
  at the beaches and along piers and objects jutting out into the
  lake.

• timing...through saturday evening.

• location...from lucas county east to lorain county.

• potential impacts...beach goers risking going into the water
  could be swept out into the open waters by strong currents. even
  strong swimmers can be overcome by the strong current.

precautionary/preparedness actions...

a beach hazards statement is issued when swimming risks exist
from a combination of wind and large waves including rip currents
and longshore currents. these swimming risks can create life-
threatening conditions even for good swimmers. follow the
instruction of local authorities or stay out of the water.
