...lakeshore flood warning in effect until 7 pm edt this
evening...

the national weather service in cleveland has issued a lakeshore
flood warning for lucas, ottawa, and erie counties in northwest
ohio. the lakeshore flood warning is in effect until 7 pm edt this
evening.

• lake shore flooding...flooding of low lying areas is likely
  near lake erie due to high lake water levels in western lake
  erie. persistent east winds and high lake water levels will
  result in water levels much higher than normal and flooding.

• flooding impacts...flooding may inundate low lying roads and
  property near lake erie. do not attempt to enter flooded areas.

...beach hazards statement remains in effect until midnight edt
tonight...

• hazards...a swimming risk continues due to a combination of
  waves...winds and potential rip currents.

• timing...through this evening.

• location...beaches along the south shore of lake erie from
  toledo east through erie county pennsylvania.

• potential impacts...swimmers risk being overcome by large waves
  and rip currents. even strong swimmers are at risk of drowning.

precautionary/preparedness actions...

a lakeshore flood warning is issued when flooding is occurring or
imminent along the lake. residents on or near the shore in the
warned area should take immediate action to protect life and
property.

a beach hazards statement is issued when swimming risks exist
from a combination of wind and large waves including rip currents
and longshore currents. these swimming risks can create life-
threatening conditions even for good swimmers. follow the
instruction of local authorities or stay out of the water.
