Freaky Ohio nighttime nature sounds
Here are three species that make night-time sounds, which could confound people: Coyote, Bobcat, and Barn Owl.
Each Web link listed below contains an audio recording of the species.
- The waling sound of a Coyote. Coyotes exist in every county of Ohio. Sometimes, their waling sounds like a kid screaming.
- The Bobcat. The mammal, not the university student. Bobcat numbers have increased in recent years in eastern Ohio. The bobcat makes strange, gurgling and screeching sounds.
- The Barn Owl, which is a rare bird in Ohio, but it's mainly found in eastern Ohio. This bird makes multiple sounds, including a loud, terrifying scream.
