Normally, this event has been held in April, but they decided to move it back a few weeks.

“Usually the one in the spring is in April, closer to 419 Day, then we got the crazy idea of pushing it back a few weeks to be closer to Mother’s Day and hopefully to have warmer weather,” Jessica Crossfield said.

Crossfield said the later date gives organizers an opportunity to expand the event into outdoor space between Handmade and the Attic on Adams next door.

“That will give us a second entrance and exit also, so it’s not so congested,” she said of the expansion. The last Maker’s Mart in November drew more than 5,000 visitors.

The event will have more food options this year as well and seating so that guests can sit down with their food, she said.

This is the eighth Maker’s Mart; the first one was held in 2012. They are held in the spring and fall. Admission is $1, and supports the shop and its artists.
