Knitting my first scarf
Finished my first knitting project on July 28, 2013. It was a simple scarf, but it will be warm.
Yarn used:
Lamb's Pride - Worsted - 85% wool / 15% mohair - net wt: 4 oz (113 g) - approx 190 yds per skein (173 m) - gauge: 4.5 stitches per inch - needle size: 8 - color: M-03 Grey Heather - Dyelot: 0352 100% recyclable label.
I used number 9 needles.
20 rows.
4.5 inches wide.
Garter or knit stitch only.
I ended with the scarf measuring 75 inches long. The garter stitch is stretchy, so I pulled out 8 inches, so the final length was about 67 inches long or just over 5.5 feet. Probably still too long for my needs, but it will be useful on cold birdwatching days.
I may try another scarf at a different size:
- 16 to 18 rows (~ 3.5 to 4.0 in wide)
- 50 to 54 inches long
