Snowstorm info - Dec 31, 2013 - Jan 2, 2014

Light snow began falling in West Toledo between 9:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. on Dec 31, 2013.

Snow ended and/or decreased to some light flurries around 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Jan 1, 2014.

The persistent light snow began again around 2:00 to 2:30 p.m. on Jan 1, 2014.

The snow is still falling as of 11:00 a.m. on Jan 2, 2014. It has not stopped since resuming after 2:00 p.m. on Jan 1.

The snow intensity has increased on Jan 2, 2014 to light to moderate and at times moderate.

I cleared sidewalks between 1:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. on Jan 1. At least 4 to 5 inches of new snow fell between 1:30 p.m. on Jan 1 and 7:00 a.m. on Jan 2.

But some snow could be from blowing snow.

At 10:40 a.m. on Jan 2, I cleared the untouched and accumulated snow from the tops of our garbage and recycle bins that are located far enough from our house to no receive blowing snow from the rooftop. I measured 7.0 inches of snow depth on the tops of the bins. Some of the snow that fell on the bins got blown away and not replaced. At least an inch, probably.

I established a wide area on the back driveway for measuring snow and sweeping it away after each measuring.

Light snow ended around 2:00 p.m. Little to no snow fell between 2 and 3pm. Some light snow flurries begin falling again at about 3pm.

Measured snowfall between measurement intervals:

• Jan 1 - 7:00 a.m. - 2.25 inches total snow since it began - #
• Jan 1 - 1:30 p.m. - 1.0 inches of new snow - #
• Jan 2 - 2:00 a.m. - 3.0 to 3.25 inches of new snow - #
• Jan 2 - 7:00 a.m. - 1.0 to 1.25 inches of new snow - #
• Jan 2 - 10:40 a.m. - 1.25 inches of new snow - #
• Jan 2 - 3:00 p.m. - 0.75 to 1.0 inches of new snow -

• Total snowfall: 8.75 to 10.0 inches.
