03/26/2002 Archived Entry "Snowfall"

Our winter season is packed into these last two days. Yesterday it snowed four inches, bringing the official snowfall total for Toledo to 14.3 inches for the 01/02 season. About half of that has occurred this month. Today, the forecast was for 2-4 more inches of snow, but I think that's been revised down. We seem to be getting more rain and sleet than expected, so I think we will only get an inch or two of snow today.

Yesterday's snowfall was the biggest single snowfall event for the season. It was accompanied by 15-30 mph winds which caused some nasty road conditions and limited visibility to about a 100 yards.

The bird action was good yesterday and this morning. Even the juncos were eating from the hopper and the tray. Before yesterday, I had only seen one junco, one time eat from the tray and have never seen a junco on the hopper.

Both RBNs were at the feeders at the same time yesterday. I took some pictures yesterday and this morning of an RBN at the can feeder. I stand about three feet away from it.
