Goofy Vox.com political crap

I had high hopes for this site when it launched in early 2014. Sometimes, they post interesting info, but a lot of times, the site posts infantile crap.

Example:

9 damn good reasons to go vote today

2) Raises for 680,000 workers

The 2014 election will literally decide their livelihoods.

I would think those people would ask how they got into a situation where their "livelihoods" depended upon an election result.

9) If you don't vote, you can't fucking complain

There's one really good reason not to vote today: you like how Washington is working. You like how your state government is working. You like how your local government is working. But you also don't much care if it changes.

Which is to say, if you're basically satisfied with how things are going, and also don't think you'll care much if they sharply reverse direction, then by all means, stay home.

First, in this country, we have the ability to choose whether to be informed about politics and to vote or ignore it all. And we have the right (freedom of speech) to whine about politics whether we vote or not.

In my opinion, voting is the very least that people can do to improve their communities. Many other ways exist to improve communities, and none involve political elections.

My related posts:

I'm thinking about retiring from political voting, so that I can pursue other projects, spend more time with my family, and give others a chance to vote, especially young people :)

I think many people who vote are ignorant about what's on the ballot, and they simply vote by selecting all Rs or Ds like they have always done, or they vote according to instructions given to them. If that's true, how is this better than the people who don't vote because they don't give a damn about politics?

My poem from 2008:

Vote.
Don't vote.
Makes no difference.
Happy people versus unhappy people.
Non-voters are more enlightened and cheerful than voters.
What you don't know can't hurt you, which leads to ignorance is bliss.
Too much time required to know the issues.
Take a class or volunteer.
Visit family, friends.
Diet, exercise.
Live.

Yep. Time wasted on political issues is better spent on personal and community activities.
