.snow has intensified across northeast ohio as the cold front
pushes south across the area. snow will remain heavy at times
through 7 pm before starting to decrease in intensity as the front
pushes south. snow has already become scattered across northwest
ohio. snow showers will continue at times in northwest ohio and
may increase if lake effect snow off of lake michigan makes it
into northwest ohio. winds will remain brisk as they shift to the
northwest behind the front with gusts of 30 to 35 mph. blowing
snow will continue into this evening before winds start to
decrease as high pressure builds in from the south.

winds will decrease as they back to westerly through the
evening...dropping to 10 to 15 mph after midnight. as
temperatures fall this will contribute to very cold wind chills of
-10 to -20 degrees into sunday morning.

the national weather service in cleveland has issued a wind chill
advisory...which is in effect from 10 pm this evening to 7 am est
sunday.

• timing...scattered snow showers will continue this evening and
  may increase as snow showers off of lake michigan move into
  northwest ohio. areas of blowing snow will continue into this
  evening.

• winds...northwest winds of 15 to 25 mph with gusts to 30 mph
  will continue into this evening. winds will shift to the west
  and decrease to 10 to 15 mph overnight.

• accumulations...additional accumulations up to an inch are
  possible.

• visibilities...visibilities will occasionally drop to below 2
  miles in blowing and falling snow. lake effect snow showers may
  briefly drop visibilities below 1 mile.

• temperatures...falling to near zero overnight.

• wind chills...will fall to between -10 and -20 degrees after 10
  pm.

• impacts...the combination of snow and blowing snow will have the
  potential to impact travel conditions across northern ohio and
  northwest pennsylvania. roads will repeatedly become snow
  covered. exposed skin will be susceptible to
  frostbite...especially tonight.

precautionary/preparedness actions...

a winter weather advisory is normally issued for a variety of
winter weather conditions such as light snow... blowing snow...

a wind chill advisory is issued when strong wind will combine
with cold temperatures to create dangerously cold conditions for
exposed skin. the wind will make it feel like it is 10 degrees
below zero or colder for a period of several hours. if you will
be outdoors use common sense and dress warmly...making sure that
all exposed skin is covered. if possible...avoid prolonged
exposure to the cold to prevent frostbite and hypothermia. stay
