Toledo Weather - Fri, Jan 31, 2014

View the updating images that JustaSooner included in the post that started this thread.

This Weekend:

Assuming that I'm interpreting this image correctly, then the Toledo area could receive 3 to 4 inches of snowfall between tonight and Saturday evening, although some or most of that will melt with the rain on Saturday afternoon.

Tuesday - Wednesday:

This image forecasts 8 to 10 inches of snowfall in the Toledo area by Wednesday evening, if I'm reading the image correctly.

This is basic info from the Cleveland National Weather Service for the Toledo area.

Forecast:

Tonight: Snow, mainly after midnight. Low around 27. Southwest wind around 5 mph becoming light and variable. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of around an inch possible.

Saturday: Rain and snow, possibly mixed with freezing rain and sleet before noon, then occasional rain, possibly mixed with freezing rain and sleet between noon and 1pm, then occasional rain after 1pm. High near 39. East wind 10 to 16 mph becoming southwest in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow and sleet accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.

Discussion for Saturday:

all areas will have a switch over to rain for saturday
afternoon. most areas will have a chance at some freezing rain for
a few hours saturday morning. a winter weather advisory may
eventually be needed. some snow accumulation will occur tonight
and saturday morning. the highest amounts will be in the toledo
area with 2 to 4 inches

Discussion for Tuesday - Wednesday:

models are hinting that this low will be slower than previously
thought yesterday and slow up timing of the precipitation on tuesday
from the southwest.

precipitation will begin to spread into the forecast area by
tuesday evening and continue into wednesday primarily east half of
the area. precipitation is expected to pull out to the east with the
storm system and bring a return to fair weather by thursday.

question still remains on what the precipitation type will be with
this event. so far...models are leaning toward all snow but the
question still remains is how deep the cold air from the north will
be. major depth to this cold air will help keep precipitation in the
form of snow. if warm air layer drops...then we have the risk of
freezing rain developing. we will continue to monitor this situation
for possible mix of snow...sleet and freezing rain.
