Feb 1 2015 weather
At 7:00 a.m., I measured 1.75 inches of snow accumulation since it began in West Toledo shortly after Midnight.
This snowfall forecast image issued by the Detroit/Pontiac NWS early this morning shows the the Toledo area receiving between 8 and 15 inches of snowfall. The best chance for the most snow has shifted to the north and west of Toledo.
Radar shows a large area of little to no snow over Indiana and western Ohio. I don't know if that will reach us this morning.
The Det/Pon NWS said:
Peak snowfall intensity between 5 pm and 2 am.
Cle NWS said:
the heaviest snow will occur from this afternoon through through midnight.
At 8:43 a.m. EST, the Storm Prediction Center issued a Mesoscale Discussion for heavy snowfall rates that are forecast to occur today over northern Indiana, extreme southern Michigan and extreme northwest Ohio.
This may include the immediate Toledo area later this afternoon or this evening, but for now, this MD covers areas west of us.
Excerpts from the MD:
areas of heavy snow with rates to 1 inch per hour will spread across the region through the day.moderate to occasionally heavy snow being reported across parts of nrn il.
as the sfc low develops ewd/enewd while deepening and low-level frontogenesis correspondingly becomes enhanced...precipitation will further increase in coverage and intensity across the discussion area.
the stronger waa and associated llj-enhanced ascent will shift ewd through the day. as such...snowfall rates to 1 inch per hour will gradually spread ewd as well -- reaching nwrn ohio around/after 18z [1pm].
