this hazardous weather outlook is for north central
ohio...northeast ohio...northwest ohio and northwest pennsylvania.

.day one...today and tonight.

there is a slight risk of severe thunderstorms today and this
evening. the primary threats would be locally damaging winds and
moderate to heavy rainfall.

.days two through seven...friday through wednesday.

additional showers and thunderstorms this weekend may bring enough
rainfall to create additional flooding concerns across the area.
some of these storms may become locally strong.

* at 12.0 feet...flooding begins in side cut metropark. the risver is
out of banks in waterville.
* at 11.0 feet...a few riverside cabins in waterville become
threatened. lowland flooding occurs along with some water
inundation on river road.
* at 9.0 feet...flooding occurs in lowland areas near the river.

probability of watch issuance...40 percent

summary...storms could increase in intensity or grow upscale a bit
over the next few hours with mainly a wind threat. if these trends
increase...a watch may be considered.

discussion...a newd-surging line of storms associated with a large
outflow boundary continues to propagate newd across il and now
central indiana. these cells have mainly contained winds of 30-45 kt
along with heavy rain thus far.

visible satellite shows strong heating occurring downstream of this
activity across nrn ind and oh...but thicker cirrus is resulting in
cooler temperatures into lower mi. still...ample instability exists
to sustain storms through the afternoon.

latest trends show some of the cntrl indiana activity trending in
more of an ewd direction...which is more aligned with the upper
level flow and deep-layer shear vector orientation. this suggest
that this activity may have a greater chance at becoming severe
and/or growing upscale with time. if this should occur...then a
watch may become necessary. both hail and wind will be possible.

the severe weather threat for severe thunderstorm watch 311
continues.

summary...isolated strong to marginally svr wind threat will
continue for next 1-2 hrs across svr tstm watch 311...before
decreasing after sunset.

discussion...radar mosaic imagery continues to show a messy
convective setup across much of oh into nrn ky...as strong to
marginally svr tstms persist. reports within the past couple hrs
suggest that strong winds remain the predominant threat...which is
consistent with observed cluster storm mode and moderately strong
unidirectional/wly low-midlevel flow observed in iln vad data. given
recent convective trends and weak large-scale forcing for
ascent...the expectation is that the threat for strong-svr wind
gusts will continue for the next 1-2 hrs before waning with the loss
of diurnal heating.
