The Blade's new web design went into effect this afternoon. Now the same site will exist for all devices.

The Blade launched today a redesign to be more friendly to our users.

Jun 2, 2016 - Toledo Blade - The Blade launches new website

More than half of our website traffic accesses toledoblade.com from a mobile device. Previously, The Blade had to maintain different sites to support mobile and larger screens. With the new site, if a user visits the site from a mobile device, tablet, or computer, the site responds to optimize the experience for that screen size.

The site still works well enough with JavaScript disabled, except for the two slide-in menus, located in the upper right and upper left corners.

I access most media sites without JavaScript, since media sites are horribly bloated, and I'm mainly interested in the text.

A Blade article will load completely in one or two seconds with JavaScript disabled.

So far, the Blade's local news RSS feed still exists.
