Web-based discussions are superior to radio discussions

That's stating the obvious. Below is my Jan or Feb 2014 comment posted at ToledoTalk.com. #todo find the link to my comment.

(Another user said:)

"Fred - why not invite AC down to speak on behalf of the residents who so far have chosen not to represent their own interest. I suggest though that you keep a finger on the bleep button because AC seems wound up."

(Then I responded with ...)

Why choose radio for discussions? That's like choosing a newspaper op-ed to host a discussion.

My Jan 2014 Toledo Talk comment about the Toledo Meat Market

#todo find the thread where I posted this comment.

(Another user said)

"Or how about the swell-looking Toledo Meat Market (even though I've read glowing comments about the food--you gotta admit it looks pretty iffy on the outside)."

(I responded with)

I guess that theory about all humans being unique is possible after all because I've never for a second thought that the outside of the Toledo Meat Market looked "iffy" whatever the hell that means. I am unable to narrow my brain to understand the point of your comment.

If you exited your shell and visited the inside to see all the wonderful food, then you wouldn't think about the outside of the building. But once inside, you may encounter people of a foreign descent, so hopefully, that doesn't disturb your compass.

Pothole reporting system

A wacky idea that I may still pursue, although it's a bit late for this season. It might be a fun and educational programmer exercise though.

Jan 2014 ToledoTalk.com thread about potholes.

Surely, a pothole reporting/searching mobile app exists. It could operate many ways. One way:

Elaine's Tea Shop vs City of Toledo

#todo finish editing

Jan 20, 2014 blade page about elaine's tea shop battling the city of toledo over the shop's new sign placement. the biz is located on Sylvania ave in West Toledo.

I drive by often, and i'm unsure what the problem is with the sign, except that it violates city code. I patronized elaine's over the years at the store's two previous locations, so I'm rooting for the teapot sign.

Cheese Toastwich

(Post adapted from my Jan 18, 2014 comment in a ToledoTalk.com thread.)

I first learned about "grilled cheese" when I was a junior or senior in high school. One day, the high school cafeteria's menu board advertised grilled cheese. I thought, what the heck is grilled cheese? How do you grill cheese?

But when I saw the food item, I recognized it by the only name that I had ever heard it called while growing up in eastern Ohio: "cheese toastwich." I never heard anyone call it grilled cheese. It was always cheese toastwich.

Suggestion for gluten-free products

( My comment posted in this ToledoTalk.com thread )

Do you know what types of allergies? Wheat, nuts, etc.? I don't understand the vegan part, unless the child is allergic to honey, which would be horrible.

2014 NFL Mock Drafts

Every week, maybe every day, until draft day in early May, numerous mock drafts will be produced. Good discussion fodder for NFL geeks. Nothing wrong that.

Player rankings and mock draft orders change after the NFL combine, held on February 22 to 25.

Notetaking

December 2012 blog post by programmer Brent Simmons titled Notes and Books

I’m 45 years old and my short-term memory, which used to be very good, is now average, so I take notes frequently as I work. I take notes at the very second I think of them, because if I wait even a few seconds they’re gone.

I’d use Vesper for these notes, but I’m working on Vesper. It may be paused in the debugger or in some other state where I can’t use it to take a note. While I can and do use Vesper for everything else, I can’t use it to work on itself.

Maybe that's the difference between a native app and a Web app. I don't know. But I do know that I use JotHut, created with my Junco code, to record notes and manage development of my Junco code. I don't use paper.

Guess of what business will move from Arrowhead Park to Monclova Township

(My January 2014 comment in a ToledoTalk.com thread about a secretive business moving from Maumee to Monclova Township. People made guesses as to the business, and this was mine.)

So it's possible that the business would be currently listed on the Arrowhead Park Business Directory.

"Arrowhead has a ton of businesses, most of which aren't exactly name brands to laypeople."

Th third business listed on that directory looks interesting: AboutGolf, makers of golfing simulators.

Toledoans freaking out over winter weather

(My comments in a January 2014 ToledoTalk.com thread.)

Jan 4, 2014 comment

It was easy shopping this morning at the Toledo Farmer's Market. We bought sourdough bread, coffee beans, apples, carrots, beets, etc. We missed out on the eggs though. One farmer said the eggs sold out quickly. Another farmer said, "The girls were on strike." It was too cold for much egg-laying production. The chickens were too busy eating to stay warm.

It's fun buying directly from the farmers and the other producers who sell their products at the market. We didn't stop at the Phoenix Earth Food Co-op today, but I reckon it didn't suffer from stupid human madness.

Weather-wise, every winter storm is NOT the freakish Blizzard of '78.
