During the weekend of Jul 11-13, 2014, I visited family in eastern Ohio. While walking my dog at the park on Jul 13, I flushed this boldly-patterned, daytime-flying moth.

Media websites, JavaScript bloat, tracking, Ghostery monitoring
Jul 4, 2014 - PandoDaily - I just installed a tool which shows how popular websites are spying on me. The results are horrifying

On Jul 5, 2014, I found this cicada wing on our driveway. The Scissor-grinder Cicadas began singing around our West Toledo home on June 30. Time to transition from birdsong to insect song.

Making pizza from spent beer grains
On Jul 5, 2014, I made a pizza dough that used some spent grains from our Dark-eyed Junco Imperial Stout that we brewed on Mar 30, 2014. It's probably the ugliest pizza crust ever made, but it turned out surprisingly well. The addition of the spent grains imparted a mild and tasty flavor, made a thicker and chewier crust, and added a lot of dark color.

At least as of June 2014, especially with newsletters. Email's resurgence probably began when the iPhone came out in 2007. Notifications on smartphones. Staying connected and current.

Jun 29, 2014- The Guardian - Time Inc’s M Scott Havens: ‘We want to build the next LinkedIn or Facebook’ - "Digital chief on rethinking the rules of journalism, shaking off the magazine group tag, and developing innovation"
Odd reaction by some but maybe unsurprising.
Toledoans whine about summer weather
(My Jun 29, 2014 ToledoTalk.com comment)
Toledo must be ground zero for sissies. It's not hot. Yesterday was great. Today is great with a mostly cloudy sky, breezy wind, and Toledo temps at 2:00 pm ranged from 82 to 84 degrees.

I understand that some people are too brilliant to be in our company. They operate on a higher level, and they get impatient with people who cannot intellectually keep up.
But intelligent geeks should try not to be big a-holes when interacting with "normal" people, especially when the geeks are designing solutions to make life easier for the rest of us.
