Toledo, Ohio the Venice of the Midwest

First, the snark, since this is the Internet:

Blade - Fight against blight needs fresh ideas - "City's abandonment, ugliness must be reversed"

Fresh idea: Toledo should transition toward being the Venice of the Midwest.

Chris at SwampBubbles.com is battling the Sylvania public school district

(my June 2014 ToledoTalk.com comment in this thread )

"What they can not do is use any assets owned by the schools in a levy campaign like their web site, email to communicate with employees, school sign boards, newsletters, phone system, etc."

For an example, Chris Myers at Swamp Bubbles is gnawing on the Sylvania school district for its apparent illegal campaigning prior to the school district's May 2014 levy vote.

I finally entered the smart phone era on Jun 18, 2014

Over the past year, it was fascinating to use the old dumb/feature flip phone with the Opera Mini Browser for using and testing my web apps to ensure some progressive enhancement and general usefulness on lower-scaled phones. I wish that I could keep a feature phone around for testing. Maybe an inexpensive Trac-phone-like device could work for me.

SMaSH Brewing - Single Malt and Single Hop

"SMaSH (single malt and single hop) brewing is a way to cut down on various brewing ingredients and appreciate what each aspect of a recipe brings to the table."

SMaSH and DMaSH seem like a good way to learn more about the key ingredients and the process of brewing beer.

Did the Toledo Blade follow in the footsteps of EconCat88?

my jun 15, 2014 tt post

"So when Econcat88 does it, it's negativism that will set this town back 100 years. When the Blade does it, it's journalism."

Amateur versus professional.
