I'm specifically ripping on the Zoo's $7.5 million playground that allegedly is suppose to educate kids about nature when a trip to the library to read about nature and a trip to the outside to see real nature would do more.

Today, it's acceptable to use the terms "Internet" and "Web" interchangeably, although technically, they are dramatically different.

Simple explanation:

• Internet - is the network
• Web (HTTP) - is a "program" that runs over the network

Will this quasi-taxpayer-supported (government) entity cannibalize local business? The projects "sounds" good, but microscopic inspection is required. It could be another taxpayer boondoggle, Detroitification project.

Unfortunately, no objective investigative reporting will come from the Toledo Blade, since the Blade has already published an editorial, supporting the project. Media failure.

• 42 inches long.
• I used number 9 needles.
• 12 stitches per row.
• all knit stitch

Small, but sufficient. Can still wrap it around my neck two and a half times if necessary. Good for walking the dog, going to the store, or dining out. The longer, bigger scarf would be good for long days out in the cold birdwatching.

The social networking behemoth's mobile conversion should be “a wake-up call for media companies and news organizations,” mobile expert Cory Bergman wrote in a recent post on Poynter. Media need “to aggressively re-engineer themselves for a new reality” in the “move from desktops to mobile devices.”

News executives have expressed an ongoing doubt that mobile will make money, taking a “wait and see” approach in making significant investments. But Bergman says news organizations need to stop being skeptical, recognize the need for mobile and “move quickly and decisively.” After all, mobile is poised to disrupt journalism just like the Internet did more than a decade ago.

A "wait and see" approach? That worked out well for the newspaper industry 15 years ago.

2. It’s not Craig’s fault. Newspaper classifieds suck and they have for years. Either develop simple database applications with photos and maps to let your users actually find what they’re looking for, or partner with a good third-party vertical who can. Anything less is a waste of your time.
